Stocks Opened Higher, on Track to Record Six-day Winning Streak

U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Wednesday, as investors hoped to record a six -day winning streak going in the wake of a phase-one U.S.-China trade deal and fading worries over the global economic outlook. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 45.78 points, 0.16%, to 28,312.94. The S&P 500 added 5.09 points, or 0.16%, to 3,197.61. The Nasdaq Composite gained 16.60 points, 0.19%, to 8,839.96.

Oil futures were lower early Wednesday, after an industry trade group reported a rise in U.S. inventories of crude and products. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery fell 26 cents, or 0.4%, to $60.68 a barrel, while February Brent crude declined 15 cents, or 0.2%, to $65.95 a barrel.
