Stocks Opened Slightly Lower after Reaching Records

U.S. stocks open slightly lower on Tuesday as investors paused after a six-day winning streak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 103.62 points, or 0.33%, to 31,282.14. The S&P 500 was down 8.04 points, or 0.21%, to 3,907.55. The Nasdaq Composite edged up 0.41 point, to 13,988.05.

Oil futures trade slightly higher Tuesday. West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery was up 6 cents, or 0.1%, at $58.04 a barrel. April Brent crude was up 16 cents or 0.3%, at $60.72 a barrel.

The U.S. Postal Service reported Tuesday that it swung to a fiscal first-quarter profit while revenue rose 11%, as a record 1.1 billion packages were delivered during the holiday season. Net income for the quarter to Dec. 31 was $318 million, after a loss of $748 million in the year-ago period.
