Stocks Opened Higher, Oil Prices Pulled Back

U.S. stocks opened higher on Friday, as the stock market attempted to halt a three-day losing streak for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 37.96 points, or 0.12%, to 31,531.30. The S&P 500 added 7.52 points, or 0.19%, to 3,921.49. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 59.60 points, or 0.43%, to 13,924.95.

Oil futures lost ground Friday, with the U.S. benchmark pulling back below the $60-a-barrel level, on expectations output shut down by winter storms in Texas will soon be restored. West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery fell 95 cents, or 1.6%, to $59.56 a barrel. April Brent crude was down 67 cents, or 1%, at $63.26 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
