Stocks Ended Mixed, Nasdaq Posted Worst Weekly Loss Since October

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Friday, as the Nasdaq pared losses at the end of the week, but still posted worst weekly loss since October. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 475 points, or 1.5%, to 30,928 and ended the week down 1.8%. The S&P 500 declined 18 points, or 0.5%, to 3,811 and leaving it with a weekly decline of 2.5%. The Nasdaq Composite gained 73 points, or 0.6%, to 13,332, but uffered a 4.9% weekly fall.

Oil futures settled sharply lower Friday, with a rise by the U.S. dollar and jitters ahead of next week’s meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies prompting the U.S. crude benchmark to pull back from a 22-month high. West Texas Intermediate crude for April delivery fell $2.03, or 3.2%, to settle at $61.50 a barrel and ended nearly 18% higher for the month. April Brent crude contract settled at $66.13, down 75 cents, or 1.1%, for a monthly gain of more than 18%.
