Stocks Ended Slightly Higher after Monday’s Losses

U.S. stocks ended slightly higher on Tuesday, as the three major indexes steadied following Monday’s declines. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 60.00 points, or 0.19%, to 31,068.69. The S&P 500 edged up 1.58 points, or 0.04%, to 3,801.19. The Nasdaq Composite gained 36.00 points, or 0.28%, to 13,072.43.

Oil futures ended higher Tuesday, with Brent crude resuming a push to the upside as a bounce by the U.S. dollar appeared to lose steam. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery rose 96 cents, or 1.8%, to finish at $53.21 a barrel. March Brent crude advanced 92 cents, or 1.7%, closing at $56.58 a barrel.
