Stocks Ended Mixed Friday and Gained for the Week

U.S. stocks ened mixed on Friday, with the Nasdaq logging record high, as investor attention turned back to coronavirus lockdowns. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 179.03 points, or 0.57%, to 30,996.98. The S&P 500 lost 11.60, or 0.30%, to 3,841.47. The Nasdaq Composite declined 12.15 points, or 0.09%, to 13,543.06. For the week, the Dow gained 0.6%, the S&P 500 was up 1.9%, and the Nasdaq jumped 4.2%.

Oil futures declined on Friday, after U.S. government data revealed an unexpected weekly rise in domestic crude supplies. West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery fell by 86 cents, or 1.6%, to settle at $52.27 a barrel, down about 0.3% for the week. March Brent crude fell 69 cents, or 1.2%, at $55.41 a barrel, gaining 0.6% for the week.
