Stocks Ended Lower on Friday and the Week

U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday, closing the week on a down note, as investors eyed Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 177.26 points, or 0.57%, to 30,814.26. The S&P 500 lost 27.29 points, or 0.72%, to 3,768.25. The Nasdaq Composite was declined 114.14 points, or 0.87%, to 12,998.50.

Oil futures finished sharply lower Friday, as investors weighed fresh COVID-19 outbreaks in China, which has been an engine of demand as other major economies were slowed by the coronavirus pandemic. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery fell $1.21, or 2.3%, to settle at $52.36 a barrel and gained 0.2% for the week. March Brent crude lost $1.32, or 2.3%, at $55.10 a barrel, for a 1.6% weekly fall.
