Stocks Ended Higher amid Yellen Testimony

U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday after Yellen called on Congress to ‘act big’ with virus relief aid. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 116.26 points, or 0.38%, to 30,930.52. The S&P 500 advanced 30.66 points, or 0.81%, to 3,798.91. The Nasdaq Composite gained 198.68 points, or 1.53%, to 13,197.18.

Oil futures settled higher on Tuesday, as traders shook off a cut in the International Energy Agency’s forecast for 2021 crude demand. West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery rose 62 cents, or 1.2%, to settle at $52.98 a barrel. March Brent crude gained $1.15, or 2.1%, to end at $55.90 a barrel.
