Stocks Ended Mostly Higher, S&P 500 Lost Gains

U.S. stocks ended mostly higher on Thursday, with the S&P 500 losing gains after report said Pfizer was contending with vaccine supply chain issues. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 85.73 points, or 0.29%, to 29,969.52. The S&P 500 was down 2.29 points, or 0.06%, to 3,666.72. The Nasdaq Composite gained 27.82 points, or 0.23%, to 12,377.18.

Oil futures ended higher Thursday, even though major producers agreed to a gradual increase in crude production starting in January, defying earlier expectations for an extension of current output cuts. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery rose 36 cents, or 0.8%, to settle at $45.64 a barrel. February Brent crude added 46 cents, or nearly 1%, at $48.71 a barrel.
