Stocks Ended Lower Friday and Higher for the Week

U.S stocks ended lower on Friday, with investors focused on talks in Washington over another round of economic relief. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 124.32 points, or 0.41%, to 30,179.05. The S&P 500 declined 13.07 point, or 0.35%, to 3,709.41. The Nasdaq Composite was down 9.11 points, or 0.07%, to 12,755.64. For the week, the Dow gained 0.5%, the S&P 500 rose 1.3% and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 3.1%.

Oil futures ended higher Friday to score a seventh straight weekly climb, as traders remained optimistic about vaccine rollouts and prospects for U.S. lawmakers to reach a deal on an economic relief package. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery rose 74 cents, or 1.5%, to settle at $49.10 a barrel and logged a 5.4% weekly rise. February Brent crude tacked on 76 cents, or 1.5%, to $52.26 a barrel and climbed 4.6% weekly.
