Stocks Ended Mostly Lower, Posted Best Week Since April

U.S. stocks ended mostly lower on Friday, while still eking out the best week since April, as investors eyed presidential election results. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 66.78 points, or 0.24%, to 28,323.40. The S&P 500 lost 1.01 points, or 0.03%, to 3,509.44. The Nasdaq Composite gained 4.30 points, or 0.04%, to 11,895.23. For the week, the Dow logged a gain of 6.9%, while the S&P 500 advanced 7.3% and the Nasdaq Composite rallied 9%.

Oil futures ended sharply lower Friday, under pressure as COVID-19 cases continued to rise, underlining worries over demand as some countries introduce new restrictions on business and consumer activity. West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery fell $1.65, or 4.3%, to close at $37.14 a barrel, while January Brent crude fell $1.48, or 3.6%, to $39.45 a barrel.
