Stocks Opened Higher, Oil Prices Mixed

U.S. stocks opened higher on Friday, as hopes for a COVID-19 vaccine momentarily counterbalance soaring infection rates. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 107.71 points, or 0.36%, to 29,980.18. The S&P 500 was up 11.96 points, or 0.33%, to 3,641.61. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 88.32 points, or 0.73%, to 12,182.72.

Crude-oil futures on Friday were trading mixed ahead of an important OPEC meeting. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery CL.1, -0.85% was down 36 cents, or 0.8%, at $45.34 a barrel. January Brent crude climbed 43 cents, or 1%, to trade at $45.37 a barrel.
