Stocks Ended Higher as Tech Stocks Rebounded

U.S. stocks ended mostly higher on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq in the lead, as tech stocks rebounded. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 23.29 points, or 0.08%, to 29,397.63. The S&P 500 gained 27.13 points or 0.77%, to 3,572.66. The Nasdaq Composite surged 232.58 points, or 2.01%, to 11,786.43.

Oil futures tallied a modest gain on Wednesday, buoyed by optimism over prospects for a COVID-19 vaccine and industry data that show a large drop in U.S. crude inventories. West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery rose 9 cents, or 0.2%, to settle at $41.45 a barrel. January Brent crude advanced 19 cents, or 0.4%, to $43.80 a barrel.
