Stocks Opened Lower, Oil Prices Were Little Changed

U.S. stocks opened lower on Friday, with investors considering uncertain outlook amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in the U.S. and Europe. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 99.12 points, or 0.37%, to 26,559.99. The S&P 500 was off 15.86 points, or 0.48%, to 3,294.25. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 116.96 points, or 1.05%, to 11,068.63.

Oil prices were little changed early Friday and were on track to book a large fall for the month, as rising COVID-19 cases in the U.S. and Europe pose a renewed threat to demand. West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery was down 1 cent at $36.16 a barrel. January Brent crude was off 8 cents, or 0.2%, at $38.18 a barrel.

Under Armour (UAA) posted third-quarter sales that were flat over last year. Sales for the quarter ended in September were $1.4 billion, or better than the $1.2 billion expected.
