Stocks Ended Higher on Stimulus Optimism

U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday, as investors remained optimistic about the prospects of fiscal stimulus to boost the U.S. economy. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 113.37 points, or 0.40%, to 28,308.79. The S&P 500 gained 16.20 points, or 0.47%, to 3,443.12. The Nasdaq Composite was up 37.61 points, or 0.33%, to 11,516.49.

Oil futures shake off early losses Tuesday to log their first gain in four session, lifting U.S. benchmark prices to their highest finish in almost seven weeks. West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery rose 64 cents, or 1.6%, to settle at $41.70 a barrel. December Brent crude was up 54 cents, or 1.3%,to settle at $43.16 a barrel.
