Stocks Opened Mixed, Oil Futures Traded Higher

U.S. stocks opened mixed on Tuesday, following the best August returns in more than 30 years. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 93.50 points, or 0.33%, to 28,336.55. The S&P 500 retreated 2.77 points, or 0.08%, to 3,497.54. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 48.69 points, or 0.41%, to 11,824.15.

Oil futures traded higher Tuesday, kicking off September on a positive note, as traders continued to take cues from a falling U.S. dollar. West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery rose 34 cents, or 0.80%, to $42.95 a barrel. November Brent crude was 33 cents higher, a gain of 0.77%, at $42.94 a barrel.

Nike (NKE) is getting into the maternity clothing market with the creation of Nike (M). According to Nike, the new line of maternity clothing looks to bring sports science to maternity apparel.

India-based IT services firm Infosys (INFY) plans to hire 12,000 employees in the U.S. over the next two years, building on an initiative it launched in 2017 to dramatically expand its workforce in America.
