Stocks Ended Lower as Tech Selloff Resumed

U.S. stocks ended sharply lower on Thursday, with tech-related shares feeling renewed selling pressure after a bounce attempt ran out of steam. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 405.89 points, or 1.45%, to 27,534.58. The S&P 500 lost 59.77 points, or 1.76%, to 3,339.19. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 221.97 points, or 1.99%, to 10,919.59.

Oil prices posted a loss on Thursday after U.S. government data revealed a weekly climb in U.S. crude inventories. West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery fell 75 cents, or 2%, to settle at $37.30 a barrel. November Brent crude lost 73 cents, or 1.8%, to reach $40.06 a barrel.
