Stocks Struggled at Open after Latest Record for Tech

U.S. stocks struggled at open on Friday, a day after the Nasdaq set another record high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately was down 24.52 points, or 0.09%, to 27,715.21. The S&P 500 lost 3.21 points, or 0.09%, to 3,382.30. The Nasdaq Composite declined 3.61 points, or 0.03%, to 11,261.34.

Oil futures traded lower Friday, under pressure from continued worries over prospects for demand as the COVID-19 pandemic undermines economic growth. West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery was down 50 cents, or 1.2%, at $42.32 a barrel. October Brent crude declined 48 cents, or 1.1%, to $44.42 a barrel.
