Stocks Started Week on Positive Note

U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Monday, as the S&P 500 continued to trade near its all-time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 35.05 points, or 0.13%, to 27,966.07. The S&P 500 added 12.34 points, or 0.37%, to 3,385.19. The Nasdaq Composite gained 67.58 points, or 0.61%, to 11,086.88.

Oil futures started the week on a soft note Monday, as worries lingered over prospects for crude demand as the global economy attempts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. West Texas Intermediate crude of September delivery was off 10 cents, or 0.2%, at $41.91 a barrel. October Brent crude declined 17 cents, or 0.4%, to $44.63 a barrel.
