Stocks Ended Mixed after Jobs Report

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Friday,as investors absorbed a July jobs report that narrowly beat expectations and kept eyes on contentious negotiations over new fiscal support for the U.S. economy. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 46.50 points, or 0.17%, to 27,433.48. The S&P 500 edged up 2.12 points, or 0.06%, to 3,351.28. The Nasdaq Composite fell 97.09 points, or 0.87%, to 11,010.98.

Oil futures ended lower Friday, trimming weekly gains. West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery was down 73 cents, or 1.7%, to close at $41.22 a barrel, while October Brent crude fell 69 cents, or 1.5%, to finish at $44.40 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. WTI saw a 2.4% weekly rise, while Brent gained 2%.
