Stocks Ended Higher, Dow above 28,000

U.S. stocks Ended modestly higher on Monday, with the Dow closing above 28,000 for the first time since February, as investors reacted to positive developments over a coronavirus treatment. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 378.13 points, or 1.35%, to 28,308.46. The S&P 500 gained 34.12 points, or 1.00%, to 3,431.28. The Nasdaq Composite rose 67.92 points, or 0.60%, to 11,379.72.

Oil futures settled higher on Monday, getting a boost from reductions to crude and natural-gas output in the Gulf of Mexico due to storms in the region. October West Texas Intermediate oil rose 28 cents, or 0.7%, to settle at $42.62 a barrel.
