Stocks Opened Higher as Big Tech Delivered Strong Earnings

U.S. stocks opened higher on Friday, with the Nasdaq outperforming, after a slew of better than expected corporate earnings results from major tech firms. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 34.39 points, or 0.13%, to 26,348.04. The S&P 500 added 9.60 points, or 0.30%, to 3,255.82. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 87.75 points, or 0.83%, to 10,675.56.

Oil futures traded higher Friday, as investors weighed an uncertain demand outlook, while bulls took encouragement from a slumping U.S. dollar. West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery was up 32 cents, or 0.8%, at $40.24 a barrel, while October Brent crude added 23 cents, or 0.5%, to trade at $43.48 a barrel.
