Stocks Ended Lower, Oil Prices Fell

U.S. stocks ended lower on Tuesday after disappointing quarterly results from McDonald’s and 3M. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 205.49 points, or 0.77%, to 26,379.28. The S&P 500 was down 20.97 points, or 0.65%, to 3,218.44. The Nasdaq Composite declined 134.18 points, or 1.27%, to 10,402.09.

Oil futures logged their lowest finish in more than a week on Tuesday, as the U.S. dollar steadied and traders continue to fret over the outlook for energy demand, ahead of weekly U.S. petroleum supply data. West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery fell 56 cents, or nearly 1.4%, to settle at $41.04 a barrel. September Brent crude declined by 19 cents, or 0.4%, at $43.22 a barrel.
