Stocks Ended Higher, Dow Booked Over 550 Points

U.S. stocks ended sharply higher on Tuesday, as investors digested an early batch of corporate earnings results. The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 556.79 points, or 2.13%, to 26,642.59. The S&P 500 was up 42.30 points, or 1.34%, to 3,197.52. The Nasdaq Composite gained 97.73 points, or 0.94%, to 10,488.58.

Oil futures erased earlier losses to end higher on Tuesday, as traders weighed uncertainty over the next move for OPEC+ on production levels, and a forecast for a weekly decline in U.S. supplies. West Texas Intermediate crude for August delivery rose 19 cents or 0.5%, to settle at $40.29 a barrel. September Brent crude climbed by 18 cents or 0.4% at $42.90 a barrel.
