Stocks Opened Higher, Led by Gains from Boeing

U.S. stocks opened higher on Monday, with the Dow adding over 200 points led by gains from Boeling, on the back of improving economic data in the face of a viral outbreak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 207.09 points, or 0.76%, to 27,318.07. The S&P 500 gained 8 points, or 0.42%, to 3,207.35. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 29.36 points, or 0.30%, to 9,843.44.

Crude-oil futures turned lower Monday as investors focused on the prospect of increased output from some countries. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery was off 77 cents, or 2.2%, at $38.70 a barrel. Brent oil for August delivery retreated 64 cents, or 1.4%, at $41.71 a barrel.

The Federal Reserve is set to release its updated policy statement on Wednesday and its first set of economic projections since December.
