Stocks Ended Mostly Lower amid Coronavirus Worries

U.S. stocks ended mostly lower on Thursday, with the Nasdaq booking its fourth consecutive rise, after new data showed further spikes in coronavirus cases in some densely populated U.S. states. The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 170.37 points, or 0.65%, to 26,119.61. The S&P 500 fell 11.25 points, or 0.36%, to 3,113.49. The Nasdaq Composite rose 14.66 points, or 0.15%, to 9,910.53.

Oil futures ended lower on Wednesday, but off the days lows as the U.S. government reported that domestic crude supplies edged higher in the latest week. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery fell 42 cents, or 1.1%, to settle at $37.96 a barrel. Brent oil for August delivery lost 25 cents, or 0.6%, at $40.71 a barrel.
