Stock Opened Sharply Higher, Rebounding after Market Rout

U.S. stocks opened sharply higher on Friday, recovering some declines after the three major indices closed out their worst day since mid-March. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 668.16 points, or 2.66%, to 25,796.33. The S&P 500 climbed 75.21 points, or 2.66%, to 3,077.31. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 230.88 points, or 2.43%, to 9,723.60.

Crude-oil futures headed modestly higher on Friday. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery edged up 17 cents, or 0.5%, at $36.51 a barrel. Brent oil for August delivery picked up 32 cents, or 0.8%, at $38.87 a barrel.
