Stocks Opened Higher, Eyed on Re-opening Economies

U.S. stocks opened higher on Wednesday, as investors eyed firming economic data, states’ reopenings and additional stimulus measures from lawmakers. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 327.80 points, or 1.31%, to 25,322.91. The S&P 500 added 25.54 points, or 0.85%, to 3,017.31. The Nasdaq Composite gained 3.52 points, or 0.04%, to 9,343.74.

Oil futures gave back some of the previous session’s gains early Wednesday, after news reports said Russia was in favor of easing up on supply cuts, as planned, in July. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery fell 37 cents, or 1.1%, to $33.98 a barrel. August Brent crude was down 53 cents, or 1.4%, at $36.21 a barrel.
