Stocks Ended Mixed, Oil Future Settled Lower

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closing slightly higher, as tech, health-care stocks advanced. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 109.33 points, or 0.45%, to 24,221.99. The S&P 500 edged up 0.39 point, or 0.01%, to 2,930.19. The Nasdaq Composite rose 71.02 points, or 0.78%, to 9,192.34.

Oil futures ended lower on Monday, as a slump in demand for crude outweighed support from a move by Saudi Arabia and other major oil producers to further cut output in June. West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery lost 60 cents, or 2.4%, to settle at $24.14 a barrel. July Brent crude lost $1.34, or 4.3%, to settle at $29.63 a barrel.

China’s Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) missed Wall Street estimates for quarterly revenue on Monday. Revenue of the company rose about 10% to 6.31 billion yuan ($889.08 million) in the first quarter, but fell short of estimates of 6.33 billion yuan, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
