Stock Opened Mostly Lower, Eyed on US-China Tensions

U.S. stocks opened mostly lower on Friday, as investors watched simmering tensions between the U.S. and China. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 84.98 points, or 0.33%, to 25,315.66. the S&P 500 was off 4.54 points, or 0.15%, to 3,025.19. The Nasdaq Composite gained 21.07 points, or 0.22%, to 9,390.06.

Oil futures fell Friday, with traders citing uncertainty about demand for fuel and rising U.S.-China tensions over Hong Kong, but the U.S. crude benchmark remained on track for its biggest monthly rise in more than a decade. West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery was down 88 cents, or 2.6%, at $32.83 a barrel, while August Brent was off 81 cents, or 2.3%, at $35.22 a barrel.
