Stocks Ended on Mixed Note, Nasdaq Gained

U.S.stocks trimmed their losses and ended on mixed note on Monday, with the Nasdaq closing into positive territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 328.60 points, or 1.39%, to 23,390.77. The S&P 500 lost 28.19 points, or 1.01%, to 2,761.63. The Nasdaq Composite rose 38.85 points, or 0.48%, to 8,192.42.

Crude prices settled on a mixed note Monday, with global prices higher but U.S. prices down as pressure from the drop in oil demand, from efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, more than offset support from a historic agreement by major oil producers to cut oil production. West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery lost 35 cents, or 1.5%, to settle at $22.41 a barrel. June Brent crude climbed by 26 cents, or 0.8%, at $31.74 a barrel.
