Stocks Pared Opening Gains

U.S. stocks pared opening gains in the early trading on Friday, as investors weighed a rising case count from the coronavirus against massive stimulus measures from policymakers globally. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 170.22 points, or 0.85%, to 19,916.97. The S&P 500 declined 28.12 points, or 1.17%, to 2,381.27. The Nasdaq Composite gained 17.97 points, or 0.25%, to 7,168.55.

Oil prices surrendered some of their gains Friday from President Trump’s threat to take action against Saudi Arabia and Russia on behalf of the beleaguered U.S. shale patch. West Texas Intermediate crude oil tumbled 1.4 percent to $25.54 after climbing as much as 10 percent in early trading.
