Stocks Opened Sharply Higher, Oil Prices Rose

U.S. stocks opened sharply higher on Friday, recovering some of Thursday’s steep losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 772.40 points, or 3.64%, to 21,973.02. The S&P 500 was up 102.55 points, or 4.13%, to 2,583.19. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 278.10 point, or 3.86%, to 7,479.91.

Oil was in bounce mode Friday, rising sharply. West Texas Intermediate crude for April delivery rose $1.90, or 6%, $33.40 a barrel, while May Brent crude was up $2.02, or 6.1%, at $35.24 a barrel.
