Stocks Ended Sharply Higher, Dow Jumped Near 1,300 Points

U.S. stocks ended sharply higher on Monday, with the Dow jumped near 1300 points, rebounding after a week of losses as mounting coronavirus fears rippled across global markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1,293.96 points, or 5.09%, to 26,703.32. The S&P 500 rose 136.01 points, or 4.60%, to 3,090.23. The Nasdaq Composite gained 384.80 points, or 4.49%, to 8,952.17.

Oil futures settled Monday with a gain of more than 4%—the biggest daily percentage climb of the year—boosted by optimism that OPEC and its allies will soon announce additional production cuts. April WTI crude futures climbed by $1.99, or nearly 4.5%, to settle at $46.75 a barrel. May Brent crude tacked on $2.23, or 4.5%, to finish at $51.90 a barrel.
