Stocks Ended 7% Lower, Oil Prices Plunged

U.S. stocks ended sharply lower on Monday, as the coronavirus epidemic stoked fears of a sharp global downturn. The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 2,013.45 points, or 7.78%, to 23,851.33. The S&P 500 dropped 225.85 points, or 7.60%, to 2,746.52. The Nasdaq Composite declined 624.94 points, or 7.29%, to 7,950.68.

Oil futures plunged to a four-year low Monday, on track for the biggest one-day drop since 1991 as OPEC and Russia appear headed for an all-out price war. West Texas Intermediate crude for April delivery fell $10.15, or 24.6%, to end at $31.13 a barrel. May Brent crude dropped $10.91, or 24.1%, to settle at $34.36 a barrel.
