Dow Posted Best Percent Gain since 1933

U.S. stocks ended sharply higher on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average posting its best day since 1933, amid growing optimism that Congress will come to an agreement on a fiscal stimulus package aimed at combatting the economic impact of the coronavirus epidemic. The Dow rose 2,112.98 points, or 11.37%, to 20,704.91. The S&P 500 advanced 209.93 points, or 9.38%, to 2,447.33. The Nasdaq Composite gained 557.18 points, or 8.12%, to 7,417.86.

Oil futures ended higher on Tuesday, extending their gain to a second straight session. West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery climbed by 65 cents, or 2.8%, to settle at $24.01 a barrel. May Brent crude rose 12 cents, or 0.4%, to $27.15 a barrel.
