Stocks Ended Lower, Oil Prices Fell

U.S. stocks closed lower on Friday, despite a strong January jobs report. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 277.26 points, or 0.94%, to 29,102.51. The S&P 500 lost 18.07 points, or 0.54%, to 3,327.71. The Nasdaq Composite declined 51.64 points, or 0.54%, to 9,520.51.
For the week, the Dow was up 3%, the S&P 500 advanced 3.2% and the Nasdaq gaining 4%.

Oil futures finished lower Friday to suffer a fifth weekly loss in a row. West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery fell 63 cents, or 1.2%, to settle at $50.32 a barrel. April Brent crude declined by 46 cents, or 0.8%, to end at $54.47 a barrel. For the week, WTI saw a 2.4% weekly slump, while Brent posted a decline of 3.8%.
