Stocks Ended Little Changed, Oil Settled with Gains

U.S.stocks ended little changed on Tuesday, after a first day of congressional testimony from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.48 point, to 29,276.34. The S&P 500 rose 5.66 points, or 0.17%, to 3,357.75. The Nasdaq Composite gained 10.55 points, or 0.11%, to 9,638.94.

Oil futures settled with gains on Tuesday to recoup some of the losses seen a day earlier when they posted their lowest settlement in more than a year. West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery rose 37 cents, or nearly 0.8%, to settle at $49.94 a barrel, while April Brent crude tacked on 74 cents, or 1.4%, to $54.01 a barrel.
