Stocks Ended Lower as Coronavirus Fears Heated Up

U.S. stocks ended sharply lower on Monday as fears over the deadly coronavirus flared further. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped 453.93 points, or 1.57%, to 28,535.80. The S&P 500 fell 51.84 points, or 1.57%, to 3,243.63. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 175.60 points, or 1.89%, to 9,139.31.

Oil prices fell for a fifth session in a row on Monday, settling at their lowest in more than three months. West Texas Intermediate crude for March delivery declined by $1.05, or 1.9%, to settle at $53.14 a barrel. March Brent crude fell $1.37, or 2.3%, to $59.32 a barrel.
