Stocks Opened Mostly Lower, Oil Futures Declined

U.S. stocks opened mostly lower on Monday, as investors brace for a wave of policy updates from global central banks and fresh developments in U.S. and China trade negotiations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 50.03 points, or 0.18%, to 27,965.03. The S&P 500 was off 3.57 points, or 0.11%, to 3,142.34. The Nasdaq Composite was up 1.52 points, or 0.02%, to 8,658.05.

Oil futures declined Monday morning, after signs of economic weakness in large-exporter China undercut bullishness in the aftermath of last week’s important gathering of global producers. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery fell 59 cents, or 1%, at $58.62 a barrel. February Brent crude shed 59 cents, or 0.9%, to $63.80 a barrel.
