Stocks Opened Higher amid More China Trade Deal Hopes

U.S. stocks opened higher on Thursday, with investors optimistic about prospects for a partial U.S.-China trade deal.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately fell 10.42 points, or 0.04%, to 27,639.36. The S&P 500 rose 2.18 points, or 0.07%, to 3,114.94. The Nasdaq Composite gained 16.93 points, or 0.20%, to 8,583.60.

Oil futures rose on Thursday as a two-day meeting of OPEC and other major crude producers got under way. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery rose 19 cents, or 0.3%, to $58.62 a barrel. February Brent crude added 52 cents, or 0.8%, to reach $63.54 a barrel.
