Stocks Ended Slightly Higher after Trade Announcements

U.S. stocks ended slightly higher on Friday after President Donald Trump and Chinese officials announced a trade pact that includes a rollback of some tariffs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 3.33 points, or 0.01%, to 28,135.38. The S&P 500 gained 0.23 points, or 0.01%, to 3,168.80. The Nasdaq Composite added 17.56 points, or 0.20%, to 8,734.88.

Oil futures ended higher on Friday, after the U.S. and China said they have reached a preliminary agreement on a phase one trade agreement. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery rose 89 cents, or 1.5%, to settle at $60.07 a barrel and prices for the front-month contract rose 1.5% for the week. February Brent crude gained $1.02, or 1.6%, to finish at $65.22 a barrel and ended 1.3% higher for the week.
