Stocks Ended Higher, Hitting New Records

U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday, reaching new record highs, as financial markets largely shrugged off the U.S. House of Representatives’ votes to impeach President Donald Trump. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 137.68 points, or 0.49%, to 28,376.96. The S&P 500 gained 14.23 points, or 0.45%, to 3,205.37. The Nasdaq Composite added 59.48 points, or 0.67%, to 8,887.22.

Oil futures ended higher Thursday and logged their highest settlement since mid-September, with global benchmark prices stretching their gains to a sixth consecutive session. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery rose 29 cents, or 0.5%, to finish at $61.22 a barrel. February Brent crude added 37 cents, or 0.6%, to settle at $66.54 a barrel.
