Stocks Ended at Record Highs amid Trade Deal

U.S. stocks ended at new record highs on Monday as ongoing optimism over trade deals helped push risk assets higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 100.51 points, or 0.36%, to 28,235.89. The S&P 500 rose 22.65 points, or 0.71%, to 3,191.45. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 79.35 points, or 0.91%, to 8,814.23

Oil futures climbed Monday to settle at a three-month high, lifted by a so-called phase-one U.S.-China trade deal that has de-escalated tensions between the world’s two-largest economies. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery rose by 14 cents, or 0.2%, to settle at $60.21 a barrel, while February Brent crude gained 12 cents, or 0.2%, to end at $65.34 a barrel.
