Stocks Ended Slightly High, Oil Prices Fell

U.S. stocks ended slightly higher on Friday, as investors weighed prospects for a so-called phase one U.S.-China trade deal. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 109.33 points, or 0.39%, to 27,875.62. The S&P 500 added 6.75 points, or 0.22%, to 3,110.29. The Nasdaq Composite gained 13.67 points , or 0.16%, to 8,519.88. For the week, The Dow fell 0.5%, the S&P 500 saw a 0.3% fall and the Nasdaq declined 0.3%.

Oil futures fell on Friday, after settling at a two-month high a day earlier, with U.S. prices ending the week with a modest loss. West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery fell 81 cents, or 1.4%, to settle at$57.77 a barrel, while January Brent crude lost 58 cents, or 0.9%, at $63.39 a barrel.
