Stocks Ended Lower as Trade Fears Flared

U.S. stocks ended lower on Wednesday as doubts persisted about progress on a U.S.-China trade deal. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 112.93 points, or 0.40%, to 27,821.09. The S&P 500 was down 11.72 points, or 0.38%, to 3,108.46. The Nasdaq Composite declined 43.93 points, or 0.51%, to 8,526.73.

Oil futures finished higher on Wednesday, following a U.S. government report that showed domestic crude supplies up a fourth straight week. West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery added $1.90, or 3.4%, to settle at $57.11 a barrel. January Brent crude gained 1.49, or 2.5%, to settle at $62.40 a barrel.
