Stocks Ended at Record Highs, Oil Prices Rose

U.S. stocks ended at record highs on Monday, as investors remained attuned to developments in the U.S.-China trade relationship and cheered a wave of merger activity. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 190.85 points, or 0.68%, to 28,066.47. The S&P 500 rose 23.35 points, or 0.75%, to 3,133.64. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 112.60 points, or 1.32%, to 8,632.49.

Oil prices recovered late Monday after a mostly down day, having gained in three of the past four sessions. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for January delivery closed up 24 cents, or 0.4%, to $58.01 a barrel. January Brent crude gained 26 cents, or 0.4%, at $63.65 a barrel.
