Stocks Ended at Record Highs

U.S. stocks ended at record highs on Wednesday, supported by upbeat economic data and ongoing hopes for a U.S. – China trade deal. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 42.32 points, or 0.15%, to 28,164.00. The S&P 500 gained 13.11 points, or 0.42%, to 3,153.63. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 57.24 points, or 0.66%, to 8,705.17.

Oil prices slipped Wednesday after official U.S. inventory data posted an unexpected rise in the latest week. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for January delivery closed down 30 cents, or 0.5%, at $58.11 a barrel. January Brent crude fell 21 cents, or 0.3%, at $64.06 a barrel.
