Stocks Ended Lower amid Trade Deal Uncertainty

U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday as investors continued to mull prospects of an at least temporary trade agreement. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 29.23 points, or 0.11% to 26,787.36. The S&P 500 lost 4.12 points, or 0.14%, to 2,966.15. The Nasdaq Composite shed 8.39 points, or 0.10%, to 8,048.65.

Oil futures lost around 2% on Monday, giving back much of their gains from last week. West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery fell by $1.11, or 2%, to settle at $53.59 a barrel. December Brent crude lost $1.16, or 1.9%, to settle at $59.35 a barrel.
