Stocks Opened Higher toward Record Highs

U.S. stocks opened higher on Friday and neared record highs as the dust settled around a series of central bank decisions earlier in the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately advanced 53.49 points, or 0.20% , to 27,148.28. The S&P 500 was up 7.16 points, or 0.24%, to 3,013.95. The Nasdaq Composite rose 13.29 points, or 0.16%, to 8,196.17.

Oil futures rose Friday, after attacks on Saudi Arabian production facilities last weekend raised concerns over the amount of spare capacity in the market. West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery rose 49 cents, or 0.8%, to $58.67 a barrel. November Brent crude gained 35 cents, or 0.5%, to $64.75 a barrel.
